The big idea of Hysteria is shown a lot through chapter five and not just through one character. The first character that shows hysteria is Lia and she is feeling this way because of the phone call that she received from Max that was ended with a gunshot and a warning to her not to try and run. Lia was also feeling this way because she was not only in fear for herself but also for Deidra and the rest of the people she has interviewed as it is almost certain death and she doesn’t want that to continue. Hysteria can also be shown by Deidra and when Max got the implant she was in fear and didn’t know what to think and also she felt this way when she was given the tech herself and was in fear that the old schoolers would turn on her if they ever found out about it. Overall the fear of getting hurt can cause hysteria and can lead people to change they way they think and also cause people to lie for the best of themselves but overall is a horrible thing.
